Bruce Farmer, MD, understands the human body, training in surgery and practicing family and emergency medicine. He is an experienced “Master Trainer”, who offers his Jumpstart 4-Life Fitness Program for members of the Sunset Athletic Club. This innovative program includes: dynamic warm-ups, core-training with the Navy Seal inspired suspension trainer, Stuart McGill, PhD posture mechanics and injury avoidance techniques, weight training for muscle and bone strength, resistance training for endurance, strength, speed, agility, and balance work, and increased flexibility through PNF stretching techniques (Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation).

Bruce Farmer, MD is a certified personal trainer through the American College of Sports Medicine and certified wellness coach through Wellcoaches, Inc. He graduated from Sunset High School in 1970, Portland State University 1977 (B.Sc with Honors), St.Vincent Hospital & Health Center Medical Technology 1977 (MT, ASCP), Oregon Health & Sciences University 1983 (MD), Emanuel Hospital & Health Center Surgical Internship 1984, and Western Seminary 2000 (MA in Exegetical Theology).

He is a member of the Mazamas, Oregon’s premier mountaineering club. He is a lifelong skier of mountainous terrain and hikes throughout the Pacific Northwest, Californian, and Southwestern United States. He is a trained outdoor survivalist through he Northwest School of Survival.
